We almost forgot to do an episode on this until Sue started receiving a bunch of DM’s about it, so now we’re finally going to answer your questions about how Fall Market went this year. Everyone is going to see different things there because their eyes are conditioned to see what they love, what project they’re working on, but we wanted to tell you what we saw and give you our perspective. We go to market now too to understand the industry better because we are developing our own product now and we want to create things that don’t already exist, which we think will give you guys a unique perspective, so we hope you can enjoy this fun episode today.  Intro 0:00 Traveling and crazy stories 3:00 Styles we saw 16:10 Traditional frames 28:00 New tech 34:30 “Patterns, and the form of the chair. It feels traditional, but then there are little things like it’s just turned on a 45 instead of straight. The detailing is good and the fabric is flow matched. Flow matching means that when it’s being upholstered in a pattern, the back matches up with the pattern as it turns up onto the seat, down onto the cushion, and so forth.” 33:25 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity https://www.alicelaneinteriordesign.com/interior-design-service-podcast-campaign https://alicelanehome.com/pages/home-furnishing-podcast-campaign News Letter:  https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5
In this episode, we talk about the gift guide from 2024, which is our version of Oprah’s favorite things. We are a team of people who love to give gifts and thing very hard about the person we’re gifting to, and we really try to get the right thing. We feel as we’re developing product, we’re doing the same thing. We’re so excited to just put the right thing in the right pocket and share all of that with you today. Join us on our YouTube channel because this episode will be a visual feast where we show about 80% of what we’re talking about.  Gifts for your mom and dad 6:00 The darling necklace display 18:45 Gifts for the lover 29:00 Gifts for the bestie 44:00 “I have shoeboxes full of all the notes people have written to me, and on a bad day, I open up that box and it makes me feel better about myself. I just feel like this feels more permanent and it’s a more beautiful way to display it. So you know your lover, but I think it’s not only beautiful, but practical and it could hold something really precious to him.” 39:50 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity https://www.alicelaneinteriordesign.com/interior-design-service-podcast-campaign https://alicelanehome.com/pages/home-furnishing-podcast-campaign News Letter:  https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5
Today we read over you guys’ questions that you have written in and we have gone through and tried to decide what would be the common good for everyone listening to know these answers. We’re answering 8 questions, with some having multiple layers within them, but we hope you enjoy and find useful what we have to say! Our Thanksgiving specialties 1:45 How do you know when too much paint is too much of a good thing? 7:40 Consistent doors and color, cohesion 11:20 Styling a dining room table when not in use 12:50 How to treat windows that face the neighbor’s 17:45 Agreeing on decor with your spouse 19:00 East/West facing spaces and how to paint them 28:00 Eased Edge countertop/full bullnose in a kitchen 32:00 Little marble ledges above stovetops 39:30 Mixing plain white quartz with classic marble backsplash 42:35 “There might be key things that you know to avoid like a skirted sofa, or the color purple, or just things like that, but when you start to actually look at images together, I think you’re going to find more commonalities than you think you have.” 20:10 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity https://www.alicelaneinteriordesign.com/interior-design-service-podcast-campaign https://alicelanehome.com/pages/home-furnishing-podcast-campaign News Letter:  https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5
Today’s episode is all about fireplaces and comes from a listener question we received, which asks “With regard to the cast concrete mantel that is often discussed, could you confirm whether this is just the top shelf of the fireplace, or the whole of the fireplace? And is it pre-colored, painted, stained, or left concrete gray?” Listen as we go into detail about the various aspects of a fireplace and getting the best design, making the right choices along your design journey. Black Friday 2:00 Fireplaces, pre-cast mantel 8:45 What is the ideal fireplace? 14:00 Recognizing the custom ones 19:00 The American dream, or custom fire box 26:00 Chimney caps 34:00 Mantels 36:10 Cast stone/concrete mantels 41:20 “If you do the custom fire box, you need yourself a nice big chimney to allow the fire power, oxygen, all of the ventilation. The bigger the fire box, the bigger the chimney, the more chimney pots. This is gonna give your house a really awesome, estate-like look, and it really does have to vent out the chimney.” 17:30 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity https://www.alicelaneinteriordesign.com/interior-design-service-podcast-campaign https://alicelanehome.com/pages/home-furnishing-podcast-campaign News Letter:  https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5
We wanted to do this episode this week after a listener of ours asked “I’m a design obsessed homeowner in Denver planning to finish my basement in the next couple of years. An episode on basements would be amazing! Space planning, choosing finishes, features to include, etc.” We live in the West where we do a lot of basements, so with all our experience and expertise, we have a lot to say about this subject. We have a list of 6 things we’ve done in basements that we found successful and beautiful, so join us today to find out what those are and what we have to say! Our Thanksgiving traditions 1:00 The Common Area/Media Room 12:30 Theaters 21:30 The game room/entertainment table 30:00 The sports court 35:50 Guest rooms and storage space 38:00 “Guest rooms for downstairs, so your guests can be on another level. I know my parents love having all of this extra space for us kids to come home, there’s furnaces and cooling for different levels and they really only have to turn on the heat or AC on those levels when we come home.” 38:05 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity https://www.alicelaneinteriordesign.com/interior-design-service-podcast-campaign https://alicelanehome.com/pages/home-furnishing-podcast-campaign News Letter:  https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5
So this year we're doing something a little different. We’re taking our holiday episode and our listener questions episode and merging them together into one. We pulled everyone on our instagram feeds and this is what we got back. We got a ton and some we won't be able to answer, but we’re going to be answering a lot of them. You can also find a lot of answers to some of these questions last year/in our previous episodes.  The first sign of the season 2:30 Listener questions during the holidays 7:20 Naked trees 8:35 The top of our trees 12:45 Standard, icicle colored, or other? 15:25 How to style a tree with eclectic ornaments 20:15 Incorporating family mementos to Christmas decor 26:45 Best ideas to stock the gift drawers 32:30 Toddler proofing 35:20 Keeping it elegant 36:50 “I also love the amber oil. They sell it at Ulta when you’re leaving the checkout, they also have it on Amazon. It’s the one perfume that I’ll wear. It’s 20 dollars, it rolls on, and it’s the one I get complimented on the most.” 34:00 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity https://www.alicelaneinteriordesign.com/interior-design-service-podcast-campaign https://alicelanehome.com/pages/home-furnishing-podcast-campaign News Letter:  https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5
In this episode we talk about the trend of the year, which we saw coming down Runway for sure in 2024 and some in 2023, and it’s called the Color Drench. This episode will unpack what this is and where to do it, how to do it, how we’re doing it, and we’re gonna share 5 projects that have been shot. We’ve been practicing this for probably the last 9 years and we didn’t know what it was called back then, but now we do and it’s awesome.  Halloween candy 1:00 The trend of the year 3:00 Our favorite colors and where to color drench 4:00 Is your favorite color best for wearing or just to look at? 8:00 The definition of the Color Drench 13:00 Locations for color drenching 23:30 A bedroom one of our designers did 27:00 The mud room, pantry, and butler’s pantry 34:00 Rachel and Drew Parcel’s library 41:20 “As color drenching goes well beyond the simple accent wall like a monochromatic fantasy, the trend is all about a full-on single hue explosion across all surface levels in a room. In addition to the walls and ceilings, many objects and insulations such as window treatments and light fixtures get the same color treatment. However, a single color treatment doesn’t mean monotony. When color drenching a room, many designers opt to play around with the paints’ finish, mixing them both gloss and matte across a variety of textures such as wood or plaster to create greater interest.” 13:10 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity https://www.alicelaneinteriordesign.com/interior-design-service-podcast-campaign https://alicelanehome.com/pages/home-furnishing-podcast-campaign News Letter:  https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5
This is episode 3 in a 3 part series of us talking about wallpapers. This week we talk about the textured wallpapers and the grasscloths. There is a special place for grasscloths and however you want to think about it in your mind and apply it to your home, or multiple homes if you have them, we’re going to talk about that today.  Halloween 2:00 The closet 10:30 Powder bath grasscloth 16:25 Primary suite in Dallas 22:00 Ceilings 23:50 Jessica’s living room 24:45 Vinyl silk grade 28:45 Silk 30:20 Project in the mountains of Utah 34:00 Metallics 35:00 “This is Rachel Parcel’s closet and the backs of her closet wall, every bay, is hit with this Osborn and Little Paper, and it’s silvered and has a wave to it. It is really dimensional and I don’t know how else to describe it, it’s almost leaf-like, but it looks like it bends in the back of her closet.” 10:35 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity https://www.alicelaneinteriordesign.com/interior-design-service-podcast-campaign https://alicelanehome.com/pages/home-furnishing-podcast-campaign News Letter:  https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5
This is episode 2 in a 3 part series of us talking about wallpapers. Today we talk about patterns and what the most common things we see are, like the paisley pattern you saw everywhere back in the 90s, and then we also discuss murals and go over visuals, which you can totally go see yourself if you watch us on our YouTube channel.  Patterns we just cannot do anymore 1:45 Patterns are less expensive than murals 8:45 Some examples of complicated installations 12:50 Kravit, a lovely client 21:00 Coastal contemporary house 26:50 Toile 28:20 Schumacher bathroom 30:00 “You can’t just measure the square footage and think like, OK that equals the amount of square footage that’s in this roll, especially with the pattern because there is a calculation of how much waste you need, dependent on the pattern. He can even give me a fast number because it depends on the pattern and the space and each time it’s different. Just know that you’re gonna have a lot of waste, but if you want it installed correctly, it’s part of the game to make sure it matches correctly.” 36:05 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity https://www.alicelaneinteriordesign.com/interior-design-service-podcast-campaign https://alicelanehome.com/pages/home-furnishing-podcast-campaign News Letter:  https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5
We have a really fantastic set of episodes for you guys. This is episode 1 of a series of wallpaper episodes after we were working in the craftings segment of the podcast and realized there are so many ideas, thoughts, and things to unpack about wallpapers, so we’re breaking this up into 3 episodes: Murals, Patterns, and Textures. Those of you who have been wanting to get into the wallpaper scene are going to love this episode because we’re going to be sharing our favorite resources, including thoughts from our favorite wallpaper installer. We’re going to be sharing projects and showing the different types of papers to help you illustrate this, which you’ll be able to see over on our YouTube channel.  Wallpaper is in 2:00 Our ideal scenes 5:30 Accent walls and what to do 11:10 Choosing the accent paint color 18:00 Great lines to use 21:00 Another great wallpaper 30:45 Gucci 34:55 Porter Teleo 41:20 “We would put our paint deck down on that sample from Gracie to choose the exact shade of blue to paint the moldings if you wanted that color to continue, if you were doing moldings with it. In the case of Rachel’s she has white moldings, but she also has white floral trees in this scene, so that looks really great. And then in Isla Rose’s bedroom, she has a white field, so we did white crown and base in this room.” 18:15 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity https://www.alicelaneinteriordesign.com/interior-design-service-podcast-campaign https://alicelanehome.com/pages/home-furnishing-podcast-campaign News Letter:  https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5

Perfection. The interior design knowledge they provide is immense. My favorite is their candid look at design, trends and how to make things work no matter what your "room optical." More, please.
